What will cause an engine to run rich from a vacuum leakage?

I want to buy a 1992 Isuzu Trooper but the people says the car runs fine except when it gets up to temp it runs rich and they say the vacuum system has a leak somewhere but the car runs fine and drives good what will cause this is it something that could be put off for a little while?
