Multi-dimensional 'zones' in space?

as for as i know,the 4th dimension,namely,time comes from Einstein's theory of relativity,and it is like a eyeopener for the scientists. So as we can have four dimension why we can't have 4,5 or 6,I think this is the basic for these theories. As for proof,I don't know,and i don't think they have some real ones.
