How do I delete files on Super Mario rpg for SNES?

I just got a copy of the game but all files are being used, I want to delete all the files, I know I can overwrite it but that's not what I want, Ive looked all around on I don't want to possibly damage my cartridge either so messing around with it isn't the answer with me, I heard of possible game genie codes, if anyone knows any trick at all, whether it be in-game, game genie, anything that cant damage the game that does the trick, any at all, I'm up for hearing it, thanks.
